Welcome to Higher Kingcombe Lodge set in the idyllic peaceful setting of rural west Dorset overlooking spring-fed tiered fishing lakes that attract a host of wildlife, from kingfishers to sika deer.

Our family have lived at Higher Kingcombe for over 70 years. We converted the barns in 2006 to provide friendly and informal bed and breakfast accommodation in seven ensuite rooms two of which are wheelchair accessible, arranged around a courtyard setting. We are open all year.

Our property adjoins the Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Lower Kingcombe Meadows Nature Reserve, renowned as ‘the farm that time forgot’. Here you can freely explore the meadows that are rich in history and diversity of flora and fauna.

This part of west Dorset has something for everyone: local market towns such as Beaminster, picturesque small villages such as Powerstock and open unspoilt countryside with plenty of public footpaths just waiting to be explored.  Within an easy drive is the Cerne Abbas Giant and World Heritage 'Jurassic Coast' with its stunning beaches and opportunities to hunt for fossils, plus cliff top walks with some great views from places such as the National Trust's Golden Cap.

Paul and Andrea look forward to meeting you and sharing this haven of tranquillity with you in this unspoilt and truly beautiful Dorset valley that provides a degree of sanctuary for those who wish to switch off from the pressures of modern life.
